“Most people aren’t just going to buy a product because it’s the right thing to do, they are going to buy it because it is what they want, and it is the right price. If it has a good social cause behind it, that is just the cherry on top” – Rachel Faller on how to think about designing socially responsible products

In episode 24 the Art of Adventure podcast, I have fashion designer Rachel Faller, founder of Tonlé, a Cambodian based fashion company. We talk all about her commitment to social and environmentally sustainable business practices, including Tonlé’s really cool zero waste manufacturing process, and how she grew her business over the last six years after a Fulbright award led her to discover a love for Cambodia. If you have ever wanted to create a profitable business doing meaningful work, this is the episode for you!

Potential New Art of Adventure Project!

Also, I’d love to get some feedback from you guys – I’m working on the initial stages of a project for adventurous entrepreneurs (alluded to at the end of the show with Simon) to teach some of the skills that you need to succeed, but might not get from other technical based courses. I’m talking about skills such as body language, charisma, networking, productivity, and bio hacking. I’m also thinking this course might culminate in an adventurous retreat that would balance business workshops with activities like surfing, meditation, whitewater rafting, and yoga. Is this something that interests you? Leave a comment with your thoughts!
